US President Joe Biden, against the backdrop of information that Israel had postponed the ground operation in Gaza, said that he did not demand that Tel Aviv delay its active actions.
According to the American leader, he did not put forward a demand to postpone the start of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, he admitted that at a recent meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he raised the question of the possibility of a postponement.
“I was just saying that if it is possible to safely release these people, then it should be done,” Biden explained at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese following the negotiations at the White House.
He also expressed concern about extremist Israeli settlers who are attacking Palestinians in the West Bank and “adding fuel to the fire.”
Earlier, The Wall Steet Journal reported that Israel agreed to delay the ground operation in the Gaza Strip to await the deployment of additional American air defense systems to the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the IDF had “killed thousands of terrorists” and was preparing for a ground operation.
