Work on repairing bridges and embankments in St. Petersburg will not stop in winter

Major repairs of bridges and embankments in St. Petersburg are not planned to be stopped with the onset of cold weather.

The road work season is nearing its end, but work on bridges and embankments will continue in the winter, the Smolny press service reported. As the governor of the Northern capital, Alexander Beglov, said, “it is important that the repair and restoration of bridges and embankments is carried out comprehensively.”

“St. Petersburg bridges and embankments are one of the symbols of our city. They are included in most tourist routes and are very popular as places for walks among residents and guests of the city,” the head of St. Petersburg recalled, noting that the authorities are doing “everything to preserve the historical appearance of the crossings and make them convenient for transport and pedestrians.”

Smolny also provided data that during the current year, specialists have repaired 27 transport infrastructure facilities, and work is still underway on 11. Thus, by the end of the year it is planned to complete the repair of the section of the Fontanka River embankment opposite the Anichkov Palace. In addition, the repair of the Moika embankment from the Potseluev Bridge to the Krasnoflotsky Bridge is being completed.

Earlier it became known that St. Petersburg and the capital of Karelia will be connected by a circular train.
