The culmination of the last festival: presenter Dmitry Guberniev calls festival president Irina Rodnina and Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin to the stage to present awards.
“Sports cinema shows us the amazing power of spirit, willpower and desire to achieve goals that are inherent in real athletes. Films dedicated to sports motivate and teach us not to give up in the face of difficulties, overcome our boundaries and strive for heights. A distinctive feature of the 2023 competition program is the interest of filmmakers in sports that allow us to see the beauty of our country’s nature,” said the permanent president of the festival, three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, Irina Rodnina.
The festival jury, headed by director Evgeny Gerasimov, included: film director, president of the Victory Day International Film Festival Sergei Rusakov, director, artist and screenwriter Marat Kim, actress Valeria Arlanova, honored figure skating coach Elena Chaikovskaya, three-time Olympic champion, president of the Ski Racing Federation Russia’s Elena Vyalbe and the President of the Russian Skateboarding Federation Ilya Vdovin. The opening ceremony of the festival will begin on October 26 at 18:30 at the Poklonka cinema on the territory of the Victory Museum in Moscow. The opening film will be “Forward!” Kazakh director Yernar Nurgaliev. This is an incredible story of two brothers who end up in the world of sports from the world of crime; about the twists and turns and trials as a result of which one of them manages to defeat the world champion in marathon running.
Screenings of the competition program will take place at venues in Moscow and the Moscow region from October 26 to November 1. Admission is free, but registration is required.
