Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has canceled his visit to Israel. According to TRT Haber, before this, the Turkish leader criticized Israel’s actions during the conflict with the Palestinian Hamas movement.
“I had a program for a visit to Israel, I canceled it, there will be no visit,” Erdogan said.
Speaking in the Turkish Parliament, he emphasized that Israel and all countries call Hamas a terrorist organization, but he himself considers it a “Mujahideen liberation group.”
Erdogan also blamed Western countries for the deaths of children in the Gaza Strip. In his opinion, “the perpetrators of the massacre in the Gaza Strip are those who provide unlimited assistance to Israel.” He added that “they want peace to never come to this region,” as quoted by Hurriyet.
The Turkish president added that all parties must immediately declare a ceasefire. In addition, the Rafah checkpoint should be opened to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. At the same time, Turkey, Erdogan noted, is ready to become a guarantor of security for the Palestinians.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated on October 7. On this day, the Palestinian movement attacked Israeli territory with rockets. In response, Israel blocked the Gaza Strip and announced preparations for a ground operation. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 5.7 thousand people died in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, Israeli authorities reported 1.4 thousand victims.
