President Vladimir Putin ordered changes to the legislation to transfer the offices and servers of online gaming companies operating in the Russian Federation to Russian territory.
At a meeting of the Council for Physical Culture and Sports, the problem of Internet games was raised, including so-called shooters, which “promote anti-state values.” As an example, cases were given when “everything Russian” in some games is presented in a negative way; if you “kill a Russian” character in the game, game points are awarded. In this regard, it was proposed to change the legislation so that a single regulator could “completely block the com zone and any system on the territory of the Russian Federation” would be transferred “to the ru zone”, and company offices and game servers would be transferred to the territory of Russia, Interfax reports “
“Indeed, we should have servers. We love both Canada and the USA, but making money from us, especially in such a negative way for us: why are we allowing this?” Putin said.
He emphasized that “it is necessary not to work out, but to take” concrete steps to resolve this issue.
“And we need to include this in a single regulator,” Putin instructed.
