“Horrors in Gaza”: after a strike on a hospital, more than 800 were killed, body parts were torn off from the wounded, people were operated on without anesthesia

After a deadly attack on a hospital in Gaza, the number of victims exceeded 800. There may be even more victims, as many people are under the rubble, Al Arabiya TV channel reports, citing the enclave’s Ministry of Health.

The rescue operation is currently ongoing and the rubble is being cleared.

Those injured as a result of the attack on the medical facility are being taken to Al-Shifa Hospital, RT Arabic reports. According to Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, people have had their body parts torn off, and many have to undergo operations without anesthesia.

The hospital was hit on October 17. Hamas and Israel blame each other for the attack. Israeli authorities said they were investigating and linking the incident to the unsuccessful launch of a Hamas rocket, Israeli TV previously clarified.

With the Gaza Strip currently under lockdown, there is a growing risk of water-borne diseases spreading. According to the UN agency, the reason is “the collapse of water supply systems and poor sanitation.” Even with the supplied fuel, seawater desalination plants will only be able to operate “for a week or so,” the department said. It noted that Israel had previously partially restored water supplies to eastern Khan Yunis, but other networks were so damaged that they would not be able to supply water even if they were turned back on.

The UN also confirmed that the number of residents of the Gaza Strip who have fled their homes has reached 1 million.

Previously, the Palestinian authorities reported that since the escalation of the conflict on October 7, 3 thousand people have been killed in the Gaza Strip. According to the World Health Organization, half of those killed in the enclave were women and children. Israel claimed more than 1.4 thousand casualties on its part.
