Therapist and immunologist Irina Yartseva spoke about the most common mistakes that people make when treating a cold.
The doctor included taking antibiotics, wiping with vodka or vinegar, and vigorous activity during illness in the top 3 harmful tips.
“The first and most important mistake people make is not paying attention to a cold and continuing to go to work. This is dangerous because a person risks at least prolonging his recovery,” Yartseva warned in an interview with Moscow 24. According to her, a sick person in such a situation can get bacterial complications.
The specialist also spoke out against rubbing with vodka or vinegar at high temperatures. “These are toxic products that our skin absorbs well,” the immunologist explained, advising wiping with water.
As for taking antibiotics for colds, this will only cause harm to the body if the disease is caused by viruses. “To poison the body with them again is to damage your immunity,” the doctor warned, adding that “antibiotics are needed only for a bacterial infection.”
