The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) sent a notice to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of its desire to challenge the deprivation of compliance status in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), RIA Novosti reports with reference to the RUSADA press service.
“RUSADA has sent to WADA a formal notice of disagreement with the statement of non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, the intended consequences and the conditions of reinstatement,” RUSADA said in a statement.
A critical observation identified as part of the WADA audit is the inconsistency of the text of some paragraphs of the federal law on sports with the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code. “Operating activities are carried out by the agency in strict accordance with international standards. <…> RUSADA does not have the right of legislative initiative, as well as the powers of regulatory and legal regulation in the field of physical culture and sports,” the statement also said.
The WADA Executive Committee, at a meeting in Shanghai on September 22, decided that RUSADA still does not comply with the code, and also established new consequences and conditions for restoration for the Russian agency.
