Residents of the village of Luzhitsy in the Leningrad region asked Vladimir Putin to save the village from the planned construction work. The address was voiced to the President by film director Alexander Sokurov at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.
It follows from the letter that the business announced the construction of a transport interchange and facilities for a gas processing complex.
“The ship’s timber has already been cut down a meter from the graves of the existing cemetery,” Sokurov conveyed the complaint.
Residents of Luzhits reminded about the 521th anniversary of the settlement, noted the historical role of the local Finno-Ugric people Vod, who defended the borders of the country and from whom there were “only forty people” who preserved the ancient culture and language. The authors of the letter asked to move the traffic intersection.
“Of course, you need to pay attention to this, I will definitely do it, I certainly promise you. <…> If there is at least some opportunity to change the transport interchange there, then, of course, it will be necessary to do it, I agree, ”Putin replied to the filmmaker.
We add that the village of Luzhitsy is located in the Ust-Luga rural settlement of the Kingiseppsky district of the Leningrad region. The first mention dates back to 1500.
