Residents of Central Russia will experience an “Arctic invasion” on the weekend of October 7–8. The head of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Shuvalov, warned about this, Lenta.ru reports.
In the regions, sharp cold snaps, frosts and even the first snow are predicted. Blizzards with strong gusts of icy wind are also possible. Russians also need to be prepared for a record drop in atmospheric pressure.
The peak of bad weather will be on Sunday, October 8 – the temperature in Moscow and the Moscow region in the evening and night hours can drop to zero degrees, and the atmospheric pressure will drop 25 units below normal – to 720 millimeters of mercury.
As neurologist Elena Sopova noted, a sharp change in weather will inevitably affect the well-being of weather-dependent people. According to her, the body usually reacts to changes with migraines, fluctuations in blood pressure, tinnitus, weakness, dizziness and joint pain. Heart pain, mood swings, sleep problems, depression, nervousness, and blurred vision are also possible. Symptoms may persist for several days.
According to the specialist, most often symptoms of weather dependence appear in people with chronic diseases of the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, musculoskeletal and nervous systems. In hypotensive people, blood pressure decreases following atmospheric pressure, which causes headaches, drowsiness and performance deterioration, and in hypertensive people, blood pressure rises when temperatures drop, which causes aching pain in the joints
To prepare the body for weather changes, the doctor recommends training blood vessels using a sauna, a Kneipp path for the legs, and to improve weak blood circulation, drinking more water. She also calls for toughening up, taking daily walks in the fresh air, even in inclement weather, so that the body can better adapt to climate change. Also, according to her, quality sleep, a balanced diet, avoidance of alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, sweets and regular physical activity are also important.
