Petersburg condemned a migrant for financing terrorists in Syria

In St. Petersburg, a court found a citizen of one of the Central Asian republics guilty of financing terrorists in Syria. It is reported by 78.ru.

The man lived in St. Petersburg for more than five years, doing apartment renovation. He was previously convicted of using forged documents.

Last year, the criminal tried to get acquainted with representatives of terrorist organizations fighting in Syria through social networks in order to provide them with financial assistance. And from January to April 2021, he repeatedly transferred money to members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (terrorist organization, banned in Russia), participating in the battles with the government forces of Syria.

During the investigation, the suspect fully admitted his guilt. He was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison, of which he will spend three in prison, and the rest in a maximum security colony.

We will remind, earlier in St. Petersburg detained a supporter of the “Islamic State” (terrorist organization, banned in Russia).
