The Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges of the Russian Federation will consider the submission of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin to give consent to initiate a criminal case against the former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Elena Vladimirovna Khakhaleva, under articles on large-scale fraud and official forgery. This is stated in a message on the VKKS website.
Judge Khakhaleva found herself at the center of a scandal in 2017, when a video of her daughter Sophia’s gorgeous wedding appeared on social networks, to which Russian pop superstars were invited – Joseph Kobzon, Vera Brezhneva, Nikolai Baskov and others. According to the father of the bride – Georgian businessman Robert Khakhalev – the celebration cost the family 5 million rubles. At the same time, he stressed that Pavliashvili and Meladze are his friends and were invited as guests.
In July 2020, Khakhaleva was deprived of her first qualifying class. “An internal audit showed that Khakhaleva was absent from the workplace for a total of 128 working days, having been absent for several years. So, in 2017, she did not consider a single case, in 2018 she considered only five cases, ”the VKKS said.
