For a long time, it was a very popular statement that after six in the evening food is not digested. In fact, this is not so – food can be digested while a person is awake, scientists explain. This takes time – at least two to three hours. So, if a person goes to bed no earlier than 11 pm, then he can calmly have dinner at 7 o’clock, and even at 8 if the dinner is light.

It is also wrong to believe that if you go to bed with an empty stomach, your body will rest better because it will not have to waste energy digesting food. In fact, during sleep, a person continues to produce hormones, regeneration processes occur, the heart beats, muscles contract and relax, organs work, and the brain does not completely shut down – for all this, the body needs fuel. If it is not there, the body uses up reserves, and if there is a shortage, it turns to muscles. Moreover, if more than four to five hours have passed from the last meal to bedtime, the quality of sleep is significantly reduced, and in the morning a person is broken and tired, experts note.

They also called it a myth that the longer you fast, the more weight you will lose.

According to scientists, fasting from 6 pm to 7 am puts the body under stress, and it begins to accumulate fat. As a result, everything eaten that is not immediately spent on maintaining the operation of all systems is deposited on the sides. As a result, instead of losing weight, a person, on the contrary, gains excess weight.

Nutritionists note that you need to lose weight wisely. First of all, you should calculate your diet and reduce it a little. It is better to divide the daily amount of food into 5-6 meals: this way the food is better absorbed and the feeling of hunger is reduced. In this case, special attention should be paid to the quality of food: exclude everything fatty, fried, spicy, smoked, salty, sweets in the form of candies, ice cream, cakes, all products made from yeast dough, rich meat broths. But this is not enough – physical activity is also needed. Scientists have found that fat burning occurs only during prolonged, not too intense physical activity, which lasts at least an hour.
