Members of the working group on digitalization under the Ombudsman for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs in Moscow appealed to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation with a proposal to dispense medications automatically. As Kommersant reports, we are talking about the sale of prescription drugs through vending machines.
According to the capital’s entrepreneurs, the innovation will improve the availability of medicines; the idea will be positively assessed by residents of remote regions, where it is not always possible to find full-fledged pharmacies. Founder and CEO of the vvCube consulting group, member of the working group Vadim Tkachenko proposed selling prescription drugs using an electronic prescription system based on a QR code. He believes that medicine machines could be installed in clinics and stores.
Vendors noticed that in a number of countries drugs are already sold in devices, and a similar practice can be implemented in the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry insist that drugs be dispensed by pharmacists. They believe that a professional approach “will protect a person from possible mistakes and provide correct advice.”
Let us remind you that in Russia it is still prohibited to sell prescription drugs both through vending machines and in grocery retail.
