US support is important for Armenia in overcoming the problems facing the country. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a meeting with American Senator Gary Peters, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the Armenian Cabinet.
“The Prime Minister highly appreciated Peters’ visit to Armenia in a difficult situation for the Armenian people and emphasized the importance of US support in overcoming the problems that have arisen,” the message noted. It also states that Pashinyan appreciated the close cooperation with the United States, including within the framework of strengthening democracy in the country.
At the same time, Senator Peters expressed concern about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and emphasized the need to deliver humanitarian aid.
Let us remember that the day before Pashinyan reproached Russia. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, he said that Armenia’s dependence on Russia in the field of security is a mistake. According to him, “today, when Russia needs weapons and ammunition, it is clear that even if it wanted, the Russian Federation would not be able to provide for Armenia’s security needs.” On September 24, Pashinyan, in a message to citizens, stated that Russian peacekeepers cannot properly ensure the security of Armenians in Karabakh. The Russian Federation responded by saying that Armenia still remains an ally of the Russian Federation, but Moscow will never accept reproaches against the peacekeepers in Karabakh.
