The Hungarian Prime Minister said he would support Ukraine on one condition

Budapest will not “support Ukraine in any issue in international life” until it gives rights to Transcarpathian Hungarians. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, reports the portal Kronikaonline.ro.

“Ukraine has been oppressing Hungarian schools for several years, they want to turn them into Ukrainian schools or, if that doesn’t work out, close them. The Hungarian government fights at every international forum for the rights of Transcarpathian Hungarians, especially children,” Orban noted, as quoted by Kommersant.

Let us note that Transcarpathian Hungarians are one of the national minorities living on the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, the head of the office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Gergely Gulyas, proposed his own version of resolving the impasse with the Ukrainian crisis. “The Western world, which supports Ukraine, should provide security guarantees to Russia, but in no case should NATO membership be given to Ukrainians,” Guillas said. He added that Russia does not pose a threat to Central Europe because, in his words, it has “not made quick and impressive progress” in Ukraine over the past year and a half. However, Guillas also believes that Ukraine will no longer be able to return the territories that were ceded to Russia.

Earlier, the Hungarian government noted that effective negotiations between Moscow and Kiev can only take place with the participation of Washington. Prime Minister Viktor Orban called for preventing a Ukrainian counter-offensive in order to avoid a large number of casualties, including on the attacking side. He stated that the end of hostilities in Ukraine depended on the wishes of the United States.
