Yesterday was the beginning of spring, the universal symbol of rebirth, regeneration and awakening. The world is renewed, promising a new tomorrow. The concept of spring went beyond mere astronomical fact and became a symbol of renewal.

But we don’t have spring in Ecuador. We live in a vicious cycle between winter and summer.

Nature conspired against this small country, leaving it without the possibility of that space for reflection that helps transformation and change.

Teach and learn

It is not the fault of the candidates that in the election campaign for the second round, instead of conveying proposals that add value to the lives of citizens, they dedicate themselves to sprinkling messages of slander and dirty campaign, dedicated to the hope of victory by rejection and not by conviction. Nature is to blame for not giving us spring.

It is not our politics’ fault that it promotes the desire for other people’s failure. You are spreading that mentality that perceives the fall of another as a personal victory and which is not only harmful to the political fabric, but also to society as a whole. Nature is to blame.

It is not the fault of the judiciary, nor the security bodies, nor current or former politicians, that we live condemned to fear, immersed in mistrust, reconciled to the fact that from prison we celebrate with fireworks, that crimes are not They resolve that everything is an open secret but no one does anything it can. As you might suspect, it’s nature’s fault.

Stillness

It’s not the voters’ fault that they demand and believe in promises of change, but when push comes to shove, they’re unwilling to make real transformation. Lack of belief that the country is changing when everyone is a part of that process, surrendering, sympathizing and joining as part of the cooperation of that change. It’s just that we don’t have spring.

This lack of spring is not only in the political sphere. It is a reflection of a society that in many ways has remained in eternal winter, waiting for summer to come overnight with solutions to its problems. Forgetting to be the seed for renewal, for true transformation that questions and motivates processes and consensus that are slow and sustained over time.

The drivers are not to blame either, who on the streets, disobeying all the rules of traffic and coexistence, as the smartest in the city, show that this country is one of the “liveliest”.

It’s not the sports journalists’ fault that media lynching is their national sport, they sharpen their microphones and unload their wits on humble guys who are just playing ball.

It is not our fault that we in the media do not change the conversation. It’s not my fault that I write such nonsense, but if it were spring…

As a window of hope, Lech Walesa, Nobel Peace Prize winning politician, said: “After winter always comes spring. “We just have to be patient and wait.”

But you know, we don’t have them. (OR)
