Sky News Arabia revealed details of the draft peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan

Baku handed over a draft peace treaty to Yerevan. This was announced by the representative of the President of Azerbaijan for special assignments Elchin Amirbekov on the Sky News Arabia television channel.

“The two countries have begun to discuss a peace treaty that could put an end to decades of crisis and hostility,” Amirbekov said, commenting on the consultations held today, September 21, between delegations from Yerevan and Baku in the Azerbaijani city of Yevlakh. The issues of reintegration of Armenians living in Karabakh were discussed there, the media notes. The meeting took place the day after the ceasefire agreements in Karabakh.

Amirbekov emphasized that the peace treaty between the countries will contain five points based on international law, in particular, both countries will be obliged not to interfere in each other’s affairs. Now Baku is waiting for a decision from Yerevan, Amirbekov added. According to him, a separate agreement with the Armenians of Karabakh is not required.

Let us recall that on September 19, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an “anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh. As a result, at least 200 people were killed and another 400 were injured, said Commissioner for Human Rights in Nagorno-Karabakh Gegham Stepanyan. On September 20, several Russian peacekeepers were killed – their exact number is not reported. They were fired upon by small arms in the area of the village of Dzhanyatag. From 13:00 on September 20, a ceasefire was established in Nagorno-Karabakh. Baku announced the completion of the “anti-terrorist operation”, and Yerevan unilaterally announced the decision to lay down arms and cease fire.
