The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense confirmed the agreement to suspend “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 20 from 12:00 Moscow time.
The department’s press service noted that the agreement was reached with the participation of Russian peacekeepers.
According to the 24News portal and the information center of the unrecognized republic, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to lay down their arms unilaterally.
“During two days of stubborn fighting, units of the Artsakh armed forces heroically defended themselves against an enemy who was several times superior in manpower and military equipment,” the statement said.
It is noted that the Karabakh authorities decided to withdraw the remaining Armenian armed forces from the deployment zone of Russian peacekeepers, completely disarm the formations of the Nagorno-Karabakh army and withdraw heavy equipment.
In turn, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the situation in Karabakh, said that Azerbaijan is conducting military operations de jure on its territory, and Yerevan’s accusations against Russia over Karabakh are groundless.
The day before, Peskov announced the Russian Federation’s concern about the “start of hostilities” in Karabakh.
