WSJ learned that it will not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through the Russian defenses in Zaporozhye

It will be difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to break through the second and third lines of Russian defense in the Zaporozhye region. Ukrainians may be hampered by rainy and cold weather, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing the Ukrainian Armed Forces military and analysts.

The publication quotes Ukrainian soldiers who note that in the near future “rain will make work very difficult,” and mud will limit maneuverability. According to the military, logistics routes are already limited, and then there will be even fewer options, and the possibilities for armored vehicles will be narrowed. At the same time, the most difficult period, as noted, will be the period from November to mid-December, when, due to muddy roads, it will become extremely difficult to carry out large offensive operations using Western equipment.

Any pause in the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will make the transition of new settlements under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces even more difficult and will allow the Russian army to strengthen its defensive positions in the occupied territories, according to experts, whose opinions are cited by the newspaper.

Let us remind you that the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces began in June 2023. It was reported that the main target of the Ukrainian offensive in the Zaporozhye region was Melitopol. Next, it was planned to “close off the land corridor to Crimea and begin to advance on the peninsula,” the media wrote. However, the Ukrainians failed to break through the defenses of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense noted, emphasizing that Kyiv was only suffering huge losses.
