Former commander of the Joint Group of Forces in the special military operation zone, Sergei Surovikin, may be in Algeria. This was reported by the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel.
The day before, blogger, military correspondent Sergei Kolyasnikov published a photo of Surovikin in his Telegram and suggested that the general was away, he had gone abroad. The photo shows that he is in the meeting room.
According to the VChK-OGPU, the photo was taken at a meeting with the military leadership of Algeria. Allegedly, he was sent to this country the other day. Despite the official status of the event, Surovikin wore civilian clothes at all meetings, which confirms his dismissal from the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces.
Kalyasnikov later added that “the general is still at the disposal of the Russian Ministry of Defense.” At the same time, he called the information the day before about the appointment of Surovikin as chairman of the CIS coordinating committee on air defense issues “not entirely recent,” emphasizing that for Surovikin this is “something like a social burden.”
Earlier it was reported that Surovikin’s card disappeared from the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense. His name is no longer on the leadership list, as follows from the information on the defense department website. The publication Lenta.ru drew attention to this fact. The media wrote that the general no longer appeared in public space after Surovikin’s video message was published on June 24 to the Wagner PMC fighters marching on Moscow with a call to stop. Previously, the press reported about the general’s detention, but this information was not officially confirmed. Surovikin’s detention was also not confirmed by his daughter. At the same time, the head of the State Duma Committee on Defense, Andrei Kartapolov, noted that the general was resting and was not yet available.
On September 4, a photo of Surovikin wearing sunglasses while walking with his wife was posted online. The photo was published on Ksenia Sobchak’s Telegram channel “Bloody Lady”.
