A Spanish journalist was the victim of a sexual assault during a live broadcast in Madrid, sparking condemnation among her colleagues and viewers.

The person involved was the journalist Isa Balado, who at that time was broadcasting for the Cuatro channel’s program En boca de todos about the arrest of the owners of a company when they beat up a thief who was also arrested.

In the video, you can see a man approach from behind and put his hand on the reporter’s butt while asking her what program it was from.

The young man continues to stand next to him and harasses him, and a program host asks the reporter incredulously, “Did he just touch your butt?”

“Yes,” she answers, before addressing the young man: “as much as you like asking us what channel we’re from, do you really have to touch my ass?” The young man denies having done it, but strokes the journalist’s hair before leaving.

“In a society that we want to make better, this cannot happen and this sense of impunity cannot exist. This shows a lack of respect and I hope that the full weight of the law will fall on him,” said the program’s host, Diego Losada, according to Cuatro’s website.

After the events, police reported the arrest of the man, who was harassing other women.

“Arrested for sexually assaulting a reporter while she was doing a live television show,” the Spanish National Police reported on the social network X – formerly Twitter – along with a video of the arrest.

Since a recent reform of the Spanish Criminal Code, any sexual abuse can be considered assault, a criminal category that groups all forms of sexual violence.
