In cities and in friendly and family environments, I hope that there are processes of reconciliation.

In post-war times, there was reconciliation and integration of peoples, such as the case of the reunification of Germany divided, after the Second World War, between the Federal Republic of Germany – western – and the German Democratic Republic – eastern, communist – which took place between the summer of 1989 and October 1990. There are also processes in the countries of Southeast Asia, today at a significant level of development.

And there are involutions. From the struggle against Somoza, which united Nicaragua in the 70s, which led to the triumph of the Sandinista revolution in 1979 and the reconstructionist government junta in the early years, we have reached the abusive dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo in later times. “Here we have two presidents because we respect the 50-50 principle, here we have a co-presidency with Comrade Rosario,” said Ortega, in power without interruption since January 2007. He previously served on the Government’s National Reconstruction Committee since 1979 and was president since 1985. until 1990.

The condition for reconciliation will be not to irritate relations even when supporting what is claimed as truth, with which the interlocutors may not agree. You must be able to understand the environment and commit to the need to sincerely overcome differences, which even includes forms of forgiveness. Taking advantage of the situation and then attacking will never be sincere, if there is a desire for reconciliation.

It is essential to know how to ask for forgiveness – or an apology, to tone it down – without implying humiliation.

Can there be reconciliation in a country, group or family if it is proposed arrogantly, with threats, by entering with abuse or blows? Impossible, whoever behaves like this is likely to get a similar response.

Does reconciliation lead to impunity in the country? Not. There are ways of pardons and amnesties, but they should not be used if they only return to the same.

Is the Constituent Assembly necessary for reconciliation in the country? It doesn’t matter, what matters is the willingness to agree.

It is essential to know how to ask for forgiveness – or an apology, to tone it down – without implying humiliation.

And what about the capos who are deprived of their freedom? They have real power today, either because they corrupt the judges, or because they fear retribution. We must eliminate the possibility of abuse, of all kinds, outside and inside detention centers. This does not prevent or happen because they are not given guarantees for their safety and trial according to law.

There is a mockery of legal texts and common sense. Let’s say, in terms of controlling election spending, can anyone believe that the numbers are true? It may be that some candidates are not always informed, but there will be those in the campaigns who know them, and it is not about the source of spending, the candidates themselves, their family members or third parties. Regulations must be changed so that false information does not prevail. (OR)
