Without Pushkin, Lermontov and Gogol: Deputy of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Marina Shishkina appealed to the Ministry of Education with a request to return the works of the classics to the list to prepare for the exam

Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, member of the Commission on Education, Culture and Science Marina Shishkina appealed to the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov with a request to revise the codifier of the unified state exam in literature for 2024 and return the works of Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol and other classics to the list of writers for preparation for the exam.

“The demo version of the USE codifier in literature for 2024, published on the website of the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI), does not include the works of A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontova, N.V. Gogol, D.I. Fonvizin, G.R. Derzhavin, V.A. Zhukovsky, A.S. Griboyedov. It also lacks sections on Old Russian literature of the 18th century and literature of the first half of the 19th century,” the legislator emphasizes, calling the situation unacceptable.

As Shishkina notes in her address, the compilers of the USE codifier in literature at the same time emphasize that the student, completing assignments, must, among other things, demonstrate “patriotism”, “pride in their language and culture” and “awareness of the spiritual values of the Russian people” , “awareness of the spiritual values of the Russian people”, “ideological conviction, readiness to serve and protect the Fatherland, responsibility for its fate.”

“It is an axiom that generations of Russians were brought up on the works and examples of Russian classical literature, which reflected the national cultural code and preserved the traditions of national culture,” the deputy draws attention.

Marina Shishkina also draws the attention of the Ministry of Education that the draft of the published version of the codifier caused a wide public outcry: school teachers, university professors, the academic community, and parents of schoolchildren are outraged by it.

Recall that the updated USE codifier in literature for 2024 was published on the website of the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements on August 25. Representatives of Rosobrnadzor explained that the updated codifier relies solely on the high school curriculum, while the works of the golden age are studied in high school.
