The tactical steps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front continue to diverge from the recommendations of the Western allies. The New York Times writes about it.
The media notes that the Pentagon recommended that the Ukrainian troops concentrate the maximum number of troops on one section of the front line to attempt a breakthrough, but the Ukrainian command tried to divide the troops equally between east and south.
According to the United States, Ukraine has concentrated troops in the wrong places during the counteroffensive. Instead of moving more troops south to Melitopol and cutting off the land route to Crimea, the Ukrainian military spread its forces to the east and south. Without a change in tactics, Kyiv will not succeed, Washington is sure.
However, the commander of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky, contrary to the recommendations of the Pentagon, insists on strengthening the defense in the east, near the Kupyansky district, the newspaper notes. Syrsky believes that it is necessary to take all measures promptly to strengthen our defense on the lines that are under threat, and advance where possible.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that in the event of a transfer of forces, Ukraine could lose Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Pavlograd, Dnipro.
