“A hit on the elastic band of the underpants and the referee’s mistake”: Usyk’s fight with Briton Dubois ended in scandal (video)

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk “stole” the victory from Briton Daniel Dubois. This was stated by the promoter of the British athlete Frank Warren after the heavyweight fight, reports Boxing Scene.

Warren explained that the referee incorrectly recognized as illegal the technique that the Briton used in the fifth round of the fight with Usyk, and called the refereeing biased.

“Him (Dubois – ed.) stole the victory, the blow fell on the elastic band of the underpants. How I would like the repetition of this moment to be brought to the big screen – then everyone would be convinced of this, ”said Warren, emphasizing that the Briton knew that protecting the body was Usyk’s weak side, but, in his opinion, the referee made a mistake .

The fight ended with an early victory for the Ukrainian, who knocked down the opponent in the ninth round. At the same time, in the fifth round, Usyk missed a blow to the groin, which was declared illegal, which led to a long time-out, which was taken by the Ukrainian boxer. He came to his senses for several minutes, lying on the floor. At the same time, the referee did not remove a point from the Briton.

Dubois eventually stated that he was deceived, he refused to come to the post-match press conference, and his promoter promised to appeal the outcome of the fight.

Usyk confirmed his WBA-Super, WBO, IBF, IBO, The Ring heavyweight titles. He has never lost in his career so far.
