The cost of living in the dormitories of St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) has doubled on average, and the rooms are divided into basic and advanced levels of comfort, writes RBC with reference to the relevant order of the university management.
According to the document, the new prices will affect only first-year students enrolled in an educational institution this year. So, the cost of living in a basic comfort room for state employees will be 1000 rubles. per month; for students studying on a commercial basis – 2000 rubles. Previously, students of the budgetary basis of education gave 563 rubles for a room in apartment-type dormitories. per month, the cost of living for payers was 1407 rubles.
The price for a superior room depends on the number of beds and the hostel. As noted in the order, if a student, regardless of the level, form and basis of education, wants to move, then new tariffs will also apply to him. For example, the cost of a place in a two-apartment block on Solidarity Avenue, which belongs to an increased level of comfort, will be 3,600 rubles. for a double room and 2800 for a triple room.
A double room of a similar class in Peterhof will cost 4,000 rubles, a triple room – 3,200 rubles. For a single room on the territory of the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus (for students majoring in Management), the student will have to pay 11,000 rubles. Previously, the cost of living on campus was 4,500 rubles. per month for students of the budgetary basis of education and 6,200 rubles. – for students studying on a paid basis.
The increase in prices in the order is explained by the deficit of St Petersburg University’s own funds to pay for utilities and services for the maintenance of dormitories “due to a significant excess of their actual cost over the declared cost of living for students.”
