Russian President Vladimir Putin called the plane crash of the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin in the Tver region a tragedy. The head of state stated this at a meeting with the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, RBC reports.
“As for this aviation accident, first of all I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of all the victims,” he said.
Primary data indicate that representatives of the Wagner PMC were on board, Putin said. “I would like to note that these are people who have made a significant contribution to our common cause of fighting the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine. We remember this, we know and we will not forget,” the head of state said.
“I knew Prigogine for a very long time, since the early nineties. He was a man of difficult fate, and he made serious mistakes in life, he achieved the results he needed – both for himself and for, when I asked him, for the common cause, as in these last months. He was a talented person, a talented businessman,” Putin added.
Recall that a private plane was flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg and crashed in the Tver region on August 23. All ten people on board (seven passengers and three crew members) were killed. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, on board the crashed plane were the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the commander of a private military company, Dmitry Utkin. The report on the flight of the aircraft was published by the Flightradar24 portal.
