During the battles with the Russian army, the elite 82nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is rapidly losing demining vehicles. This is reported by Forbes magazine, citing its own sources.
According to media reports, the brigade is performing combat missions in the Zaporozhye direction, which is one of the main ones for the Ukrainian counteroffensive. She was sent to the line of contact a few days ago, but has already begun to lose equipment. So, the unit initially had 14 Challenger 2 tanks, 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles and 90 wheeled Stryker infantry fighting vehicles, and this week the brigade “decommissioned” at least two of the twenty M1132 vehicles, an engineer-sapper version of the Stryker wheeled armored vehicle.
The media writes that the cars could become victims of mines that tried to neutralize their own crews, or they came under artillery attack, or were identified by drones.
Kommersant notes that information that the 82nd brigade was involved in the area of the Zaporozhye village of Rabotino appeared on August 15. It is equipped with Marder and Stryker armored vehicles, Challenger 2 tanks. According to media reports, this is the “last major reserve unit” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
