Usually, doctors recommend that people with heart problems consume only green tea. However, according to cardiologist Vitaly Toropov, a study by Japanese scientists has shown that other caffeinated drinks significantly reduce the risk of death for those who have experienced a stroke or heart attack.
As part of the experiment, the researchers analyzed the health information of nearly 46,000 people aged 40 to 79. It is noted that 60% of the subjects were women.
The experts decided to divide the participants into three groups: “those who had a stroke,” “those who had a heart attack,” and “those who had neither a heart attack nor a stroke,” writes the portal kubnews.ru.
According to Toropov, scientists studied the habits of people in relation to the consumption of green tea and coffee and came to the conclusion that these drinks can be useful for patients affected by the above-mentioned vascular pathologies. Drinking them increased for people who had a stroke or heart attack the chances of a longer life. Anyone who has had a heart attack has a chance of reducing their risk of death by about 22% by drinking a cup of coffee a day, compared to people who don’t drink coffee regularly.
The researchers also found that participants in the third group, who had never suffered a heart attack or stroke before, could reduce their risk of death by 14% if they drank more than one cup of coffee per week.
