Over the Stupinsky district of the Moscow region, air defense systems detected and suppressed a drone. According to the Ministry of Defense, the device fell in a deserted area.
“August 20, at about 04:00 Moscow time, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV on objects in Moscow and the Moscow Region was thwarted,” the agency’s Telegram message says.
The drone was suppressed by electronic warfare (EW).
There were no casualties or damage in the territory of Moscow and the Moscow region.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that an attempt by a drone to fly over Moscow was thwarted by air defense forces.
As TASS reported with reference to aviation services, Moscow’s Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports have suspended receiving and sending flights. Planes are redirected to Sheremetyevo. It was clarified that the Carpet plan was announced at airports – it is used for illegal border crossings, as well as when unidentified objects appear in the airspace.
Earlier it became known that a drone crashed into the roof of the station in Kurs. According to regional authorities, five people received minor injuries. There was a fire on the roof of the station.
