In Vladimir, 56 people, including 13 children, were poisoned by shawarma, the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor reports.
According to preliminary results of laboratory tests, salmonella became the cause of poisoning. The victims are in a moderate condition, the CPS said.
The report does not say in which particular institution people could have been poisoned, however, Rospotrebnadzor noted that they had begun checking five catering establishments.
Products at all points were removed from sale, added the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Vladimir region. A criminal case has been initiated under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. The department of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Vladimir, Kostroma and Ivanovo regions found out that the meat was delivered to retail outlets without accompanying veterinary documents confirming its safety. In addition, public catering enterprises were not registered in the information system for monitoring livestock products of the FSIS “Mercury”.
