The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia limited the powers of Interpol in Russia in operational-search activities, leaving the unit only to work with inquiries, inquiries and identification of the person. This is stated in the list of internal affairs bodies authorized to carry out operational-search activities, approved by order of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information. According to it, units for ensuring interaction with law enforcement agencies of foreign states, including the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, the General Secretariat of Interpol, can carry out the following operational and search activities at the request of international law enforcement organizations and law enforcement agencies of foreign states – questioning, inquiring, identification personality.
Previously, the National Central Bureau of Interpol participated in the international search for accused, convicted and missing persons, provided advisory and methodological assistance to law enforcement and other state bodies of the Russian Federation on international cooperation in the fight against crime through Interpol and Europol, carried out, within its competence measures to protect state secrets and confidential information, and also performed a number of other functions, TASS notes.
