The heads of the territorial recruitment centers (military enlistment offices) of Ukraine will appoint officers who are directly involved in hostilities. The corresponding decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine was approved by President Volodymyr Zelensky by his decree, RBC reports.
Before being appointed, the officer’s candidacy must be approved by the Security Service of Ukraine, according to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council. The department, in turn, made such a decision after checking the territorial recruitment centers.
Zelensky announced this decision on August 11. Then he said that following the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), he decided to dismiss all regional military commissars of the country. “This system should be run by people who know exactly what war is and why cynicism and bribery during war is treason,” he said. The Ukrainian leader offered to transfer control of the military registration and enlistment offices to servicemen who went through hostilities, from among those who can no longer continue to serve due to loss of limbs or other health problems.
