Poland continues to strengthen its defense capabilities against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine. As part of this process, the country’s authorities are changing the system of command and control of the army, said Polish President Andrzej Duda, PAP reports.

According to Duda, the changes are dictated by the need to standardize the system of command of the country’s armed forces. The reforms involve the creation of the Joint Forces Command and the re-establishment of the commands of the military branches. As the Polish president noted, “the command of the branches of the Armed Forces, responsible for the training of soldiers, for the daily operational functioning of the branches of the armed forces, will be recreated.”

Duda added that the current situation in the world is “a time of great challenges, but also a time of deep analysis and deep reflection on state issues, especially issues of state security.”

Earlier, Poland stated that they could completely close the borders with Belarus in order to protect themselves from further attacks, noting in particular that “Wagnerites” allegedly tried to penetrate Polish territory.
