Single women without children live longer and happier lives. This surprising conclusion was made by a specialist from the London School of Economics, professor of behavioral sciences Paul Dolan after analyzing a number of scientific papers, writes The Guardian.
The specialist noted that such traditional symbols of happiness as higher education, stable love relationships and children are no longer associated with the satisfaction of large social groups, although the opinion that marriage and children are signs of success for women is still popular. Previously, lonely representatives of the beautiful heart, constantly hearing this, involuntarily began to feel unhappy, but now much has changed, and such statements are no longer so traumatic.
Moreover, studies conducted by the scientist have shown that the healthiest and happiest subgroup of society are women who have never been married and have no children. Married women, on the other hand, are more likely to experience mental and physical illness and tend to be less satisfied with their lives.
This assumption, however, does not apply to men, the specialist added. According to the expert, men get more benefits from marriage because it supposedly calms them. “They take fewer risks, make money and live longer. Women, on the other hand, live less when they get married,” Dolan said.
