There is a critical shortage of employees in law enforcement agencies, said the head of the department Vladimir Kolokoltsev, introducing the new heads of the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Magadan region and Sevastopol.
“The shortage of personnel is very large. I would say that it is already critical. Over the past month, five thousand employees have left the internal affairs bodies. A difficult situation. And in the Magadan region it is difficult. And there are not enough investigators,” he said.
According to him, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will have to “do everything to minimize these risks” and “satisfy the demand of the population for the protection of the rights and freedoms provided for by law.”
This is not the first time Kolokoltsev has complained about the shortage of personnel. In November last year, he said that law enforcement agencies lacked 90,000 employees. In Moscow, he noted, in a little over ten years the number of employees in the Ministry of Internal Affairs has halved. At the same time, the minister stressedthat the situation “does not yet affect the crime situation”, “but everything has its reasonable limit”.
