Lebanese Minister of Culture Mohammed Murtada has decided to ban the screening of the film “Barbie” (Barbie, 2023) on the territory of the republic due to the inconsistency of the values shown in it with the moral guidelines of Lebanese society, TASS reports with reference to the national agency Al Wataniya.

“After careful study, it became clear that the Barbie film is contrary to the moral and religious values and principles established in Lebanon, as it promotes homosexuality and transgenderism,” the minister said. Also, according to him, the film “preaches the ugly idea of abandoning the guardianship of the father, belittling and ridiculing the role of the mother, questions the need for marriage and starting a family, and also shows them as an obstacle to self-development, especially for women.”

According to the minister, a possible screening of the film would have “the worst consequences” for the children and youth of Lebanon.

The official screening of the American comedy “Barbie” with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles is not provided for on the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
