An explosion at a plant in Sergiev Posad injured 45 people. This was announced by the Governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov.
He added that five people may be under the rubble.
According to the Ministry of Health, three people have already been removed from the rubble at the site of the explosion. They are in critical condition.
Earlier, the authorities of Sergiev Posad reported 38 victims. It was also noted that five people are in intensive care with burns, 15 received shrapnel wounds and are now in the emergency room, 17 with minor injuries in the emergency room, one more was just pulled out from the rubble and taken away by ambulance.
In addition, four social institutions were destroyed (the Luch sports complex, schools 19 and 21, Sergiev Posad College) and about 20 apartment buildings.
As Vorobyov reported, the incident occurred at 10:40 in a metal hangar 40 × 40 m. “This is a pyrotechnics warehouse, which was rented by a private company on the territory of the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant. For the safety of people, all buildings and workshops of ZOMZ were evacuated, and the nearest kindergarten was also evacuated, ”Vorobyev noted.
He promised that the authorities would provide assistance to the residents of houses affected by the explosion.
UPD: Telegram channel “112” reports that the number of victims has increased to 49 people.
