COVID-19: Vaccination points in the city of Cuenca and other cantons of Azuay

In this place this morning there were no lines or crowds, because the demand for people was minimal in relation to the positions assigned. When people arrived alone or assisted, they were greeted by young students who informed them that this benefit is for those who received their second dose six months ago.

Most did comply and passed according to the order of arrival. One of them was Luis Froilán Patiño, 81, who came walking from his house located in the neighborhood Miraflores, in the north of the city of Azuaya.

He heard on the news that to avoid being a victim of the new variant of the coronavirus it was advisable to receive the third dose, and he did so. The first and second doses they gave him were Pfizer and now when AstraZeneca was put in, he didn’t feel any damage to the place.

In the same situation he was Gustavo Lamb, a retired civil engineer who also came optimistically to the UPS. His motivation for getting vaccinated was to protect himself and avoid being infected with force, because he is aware that the coronavirus can reach his body.

He does not distrust having received another mark on his left arm, comparing it to having taken different pills from different laboratories throughout his life, and nothing serious has happened to him, he said.

Andrea Bersosa, zonal coordinator 6 of the MSP, recalled that this new process is open to all citizens, regardless of age or physical condition.

In Cuenca, 80% of adolescents between 12 and 17 years old have already received both doses and 40% of minors between 5 and 11, said the official.

This morning, Eduardo Bonilla, Secretary General of Communication of the Presidency, said that 74.57% of citizens over 5 years of age have been immunized. To date, a total of 398,874 third doses have been placed throughout the national territory, he said. (I)
