The Ukrainian military began to use new mines based on thermobaric munitions. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to a Russian sapper from the Khoper detachment.
It is noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are “finishing regular ammunition, supplying them with an improved discharge system, making them a tip, which, when the ammunition is discharged, is stuck into the ground and fixed.” In addition, equipment is installed on the rear of the ammunition that responds to movement, to the approach of either equipment or a person. When approaching this ammunition, it fires directionally, hitting the target. At the same time, for the manufacture of such an explosive device, thermobaric ammunition from the Soviet RPG-7 grenade launcher is used. The principle of operation of thermobaric projectiles is based on spraying a combustible substance in the form of an aerosol and undermining the resulting gas cloud, the media specifies.
It is also emphasized that in the Russian army they are familiar with such mines, they have learned how to work and counteract.
