On the night of July 23, a series of powerful explosions took place in Odessa. This is reported by TASS with reference to local media and eyewitnesses.
It is specified that explosions began to be heard in the city closer to 1:00. At 23:31–23:42 and 00:38–01:28 an air raid alert was active in the Odessa region. According to the chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Oleg Kiper, air defense facilities were working on the city.
A little later, videos began to circulate on Telegram channels, which allegedly showed destruction in the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
At night, an air alert was also announced in the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine, as well as in the Kiev-controlled parts of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, according to the online map of the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation. Also, the alarm was announced in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions of Ukraine.
Against this background, the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Andriy Yermak, called for more missile defense systems and long-range American ATACMS missiles to be supplied to Ukraine.
Recall that in recent days the Russian army has inflicted “retaliatory strikes” on Ukraine, in particular on Odessa. The targets were objects of the military industry, fuel infrastructure, ammunition depots.
