The presidential campaign began on July 13, and the end date is August 17. Unfortunately, the candidates are giving the undecided few arguments to define their vote before going to the polls on August 20.
They do tours in a hurry, a lot of TikTok, interviews with influencers, cleaning, dancing, everything that ensures virality on social networks seems to be taken without hesitation.
Exceptions are universities that organize talks and interviews that are not accepted by everyone in the media.

There is an effort to date students, but they also go viral when they are tempted to make fun of themselves in the name of voting.
Most candidates do not use the 35 days of the campaign to disseminate their proposals and highlight themselves. There are still 624 hours left, counting days, nights and dawns, and expectations of high proselytizing, if there were any, disappear.
Political parties and movements resented the brevity of the extraordinary election process that was forced by the death cross declared on May 17, 2023, but the intention is clear that voters have few valuable elements to make a decision.
In this context, the governing body of democracy, the National Electoral Council (CNE), is obliged to seek mechanisms so that citizens have sufficient information before going to the polls. It is not enough to publish the Government’s plans on the website or organize a debate scheduled for August 13, which is clearly a contribution if implemented as proposed.
Media such as this newspaper are changing journalistic genres to offer what candidates avoid: appearing politically complete.
A campaign’s poverty of proposals may ultimately be decisive in favor of those who make a difference, but there are still 26 days of proselytizing and what is desirable is a twist that allows us to really know with whom they intend to rule. (OR)
