The Meshchansky Court in Moscow arrested the former DPR Minister of Defense Igor Strelkov until September 18 in the case of incitement to extremism on the Internet. Under this article, he faces up to five years in prison.
Recall that Strelkov was detained as part of a criminal case on calls for extremist activities (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to Interfax, he was charged on Friday.
According to the investigator, Strelkov has many connections and knows the skills of conspiracy, in this regard, he can interfere with the investigation of the case and hide, RIA Novosti reports. Strelkov does not admit guilt and does not cooperate with the investigation.
According to Kommersant, Strelkov himself said at the meeting that he did not intend to hide from the investigation. He cited health problems and asked to be placed under house arrest.
The arrest of Strelkov on Friday was reported by his wife Miroslava Reginskaya. According to RBC’s source, Strelkov was detained at the request of a former employee of the Wagner PMC.
