Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes that a new war between his country and Azerbaijan is very likely until a peace treaty is signed and ratified by the parliaments of both countries. He told AFP about it.
Pashinyan also accused Azerbaijan of carrying out a genocide in Nagorno-Karabakh and creating a “ghetto” there.
In his opinion, Russia and the West should put more pressure on Baku to help end the blockade of the Lachin corridor.
Recall that at the end of September last year, hostilities resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh. The parties made several attempts to conclude a truce, but the tripartite agreement reached on the night of November 10 was successful. With the mediation of Moscow, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to completely cease fire, remaining in their positions, and to exchange prisoners and the bodies of the dead.
Within the framework of the agreements, Azerbaijan received the Kelbajar and Lachin regions, as well as part of the Agdam region, which were previously under the control of the NKR and were not occupied by the Azerbaijani army during the hostilities. Russian peacekeepers have been stationed in the region, including on the territory of the Lachin corridor.
