Law enforcement officers detained the former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov (Girkin). His wife Miroslava Reginskaya announced this in her social networks. According to the woman, he was detained under article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extremism).
Reginskaya clarified that today at 11:30 am representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia came to Igor Strelkov’s house and “took him away in an unknown direction.”
Information about the detention of Strelkov TASS was confirmed by his lawyer Alexander Molokhov. According to him, the reason for the detention is still unknown. It also remains unclear where Strelkov was taken.
According to RBC’s source, Strelkov was detained at the request of a former employee of the Wagner PMC.
The SHOT Telegram channel, citing a lawyer, writes that the detention could be related to Strelkov’s critical remarks about the Russian authorities.
Recall that in 2014 Igor Girkin led the militia of the DPR, served as Minister of Defense of the republic. In addition, he served as head of the public movement “Novorossiya”.
