Russia will consider all ships navigating the Black Sea as carrying military cargo. Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, spoke about this. However, he explained, before taking any measures, the Russian side would inspect the ships.
“I mean, we have to make sure that the ship comes with something bad, this means a request, an inspection if necessary, to make sure it’s true or not,” Vershinin said.
The deputy minister pointed out that this was “completely logical”, especially after “those terrorist attacks that took place.”
According to him, there is no longer a maritime humanitarian corridor, now there is already a zone of increased military danger. Vershinin noted that “in addition to measures of a forceful nature, there are measures that everyone should take and understand everything, because we are talking about insurance and reinsurance of ships that may be engaged in some kind of activity in this area.”
Recall that the other day the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that due to the termination of the Black Sea Initiative and the curtailment of the maritime humanitarian corridor, from 00:00 Moscow time on July 20, 2023, all ships en route to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea waters “will be considered as potential carriers of military cargo.”
On the eve of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that from July 21 it will consider ships moving in the Black Sea in the direction of Russian seaports as carrying military cargo, “with all the corresponding risks.”
