Britain has provided Ukraine with 15 times more “critical” artillery ammunition than planned a year ago – more than 200,000 instead of 16,000, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said.
According to The Independent, at the same time, the minister added that “in a small number of areas” (in particular, in the field of anti-tank ammunition and small arms), the British authorities “delivered less than expected”, but “exceeded plans in critical areas, such as artillery, promptly responding to Ukraine’s priorities and events on the battlefield.”
According to Wallace, the British authorities from last April to March of this year spent 2.3 billion pounds sterling (about $2.9 billion) on military support for Ukraine. The transfer of equipment is “quick and dynamic,” the minister continued, putting the country in second place in terms of aid after the United States.
The Minister said that, in addition to artillery shells, Kiev received from London 14 Challenger 2 tanks, 4 thousand ammunition for them, at least 5 million units of anti-personnel weapons, including mortars and grenade launchers, 1.5 thousand units of anti-aircraft weapons.
