The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Russia is working on “bringing the emergency warning system in order.” This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov during a meeting in the Federation Council.
He clarified that such systems may appear in the intercoms of apartment buildings. The minister stressed that there are already proposals and developments that could be used to enter apartment buildings through intercoms. “Such a system already exists, it is inexpensive,” the minister said, quoted by Kommersant.
He also added that the Ministry of Emergency Situations plans to allow the use of any underground structures as a shelter for the population during military conflicts. “We are working on legal mechanisms for using any structures of underground space to shelter the population during military conflicts,” Kurenkov said. The minister also suggested checking all protective technical structures in the country and assessing their condition.
He also said that the Ministry of Emergency Situations has prepared a new version of the procedure for the evacuation of the population, material and cultural values, and in the near future the document will be discussed at the level of the Russian government.
