Grain deliveries under an agreement with Turkey and the UN can go along a new route – through the territorial waters of Bulgaria and Romania. This proposal was made by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bondar, Kommersant reports.
“This is also a possible option to minimize the risks,” Bondar said, noting that Ukraine will need the help of the world community to implement such a scenario. Also, according to him, countries should put pressure on Russia to prevent its attacks on ships and ports. Bondar said that the Russian Federation, having withdrawn from the grain deal, did not provide security guarantees for Ukrainian cargo with agricultural products.
Previously, the ships carried agricultural products along the humanitarian corridor through the northwestern Black Sea.
Recall that the grain deal is an agreement between Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN on the export of grain from the Black Sea ports, which was signed on July 22, 2022. On July 17 of this year, Russia refused to extend the grain deal until the conditions promised by the Russian Federation were fulfilled. Moscow withdrew guarantees for the safety of navigation, curtailed the maritime humanitarian corridor, restored the regime of a temporarily dangerous area in the northwestern Black Sea, and announced the disbandment of the joint coordination center in Istanbul.
